Every Meal Matters

Net Menu connects clinical diet management, patient meal ordering, menu planning, food production, procurement, and inventory, to support  safer meals and more efficient operations. Information flows where it's needed and routine work is automated, so your team can focus on care, service, and expertise instead of manual rework. Here's how each piece works together.

Coordinated Nutrition from Planning to Plate

Illumia connects the people, processes, and data behind every meal within a single, cloud-based platform. This unified approach helps healthcare facilities ensure patient safety while operating more efficiently with fewer resources.

Nutrition & Allergen Information

NetMenu supports unlimited special diets and combinations across all meal-ordering work flows so patients are only offered menu items that match their current diet order. Allergens and modified-texture diets, including IDDSI levels, are managed centrally and enforced automatically so a diet restriction doesn’t slip through.

Patient Self-Service Ordering

Patients can order in the way that works best for them including through a bedside room device, the Illumia Patient App, the diet office, or integrated EHR experiences such as Epic MyChart ® and MyChart® bedside. Visitors and family members can order and pay for their own meals directly in the Patient App so they can eat bedside with their loved ones.

Inventory & Procurement Management

NetMenu can generate purchase orders based on forecasted menu needs, par levels, or ordering templates and help teams select vendor items based on contract pricing and compliance rules. Electronic receiving automatically updates inventory balances while mobile tools support physical and perpetual inventory counts, including offline counting in areas with limited connectivity. Floor stock and pantry inventory can be managed in place through the same workflows.

Operations & Production

NetMenu Production Planning uses menu and forecast data to scale recipes and generate production sheets, pull lists, and prep lists, helping kitchens streamline work, control costs, and make better use of inventory. Post-service analysis closes the loop and compares what was produced versus what was consumed, giving managers the insights to refine forecasts and reduce waste over time.

NetMenu Tray Assembly and Delivery tracks every order from placement through delivery with color-coding, timer countdowns, and alerts to keep production on schedule, while mobile intake tracking at tray collection flags patients at malnutrition risk for clinical follow-up.

NetMenu Analytics

NetMenu Analytics brings cost, inventory, production, nutrition, and patient data into dashboards that help teams understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Leaders can compare theoretical and actual costs, monitor inventory and production efficiency, analyze intake and waste trends, and compare performance across sites or menu cycles. Analytics coaching is included to help teams focus on the right measures and turn their data into action.

Menu and Recipe Management

NetMenu provides a single source of truth for menus and recipes, keeping ingredients, nutrition, allergens, yields, and production instructions consistent across locations. Teams can plan menus that meet clinical and operational requirements, scale recipes accurately, and reduce duplicate maintenance. When a menu or recipe changes, connected ordering, nutrition, and production workflows update with it.
